...Agbonta, Ugbaa, Isho, Ogbego On TopThe Ubulu Primary School football pitch will be lonely today being Friday 27th December, 2013. This is because the youths have dcelared today as match free day in the ongoing 2013 Ubulu Uku football league. The free day has become necesary following the slated anti-kidnap rally that will take place in the town today. The rally was organised by Ubulu uku Youths Developement Council (UYDC) in conjunction with Ubulu Uku Youths Association (UYA), Asaba branch. According to the organisers, the anti-kidnap rally was put together to sensitise thegeneral public on the evils of kidnapping in the society. It is billed to take-off from Ubulu Primary School at about mid-day.The youths are also expected to match, in form of protest round the town;from Akpama to Akwu, Agbonta to Isho, Abuedo to Enugu-Iyi and from Isho to Ogbego axis. The first Vice President of UYDC, Priest Moses Odiakaose is expected to deliver a special address on the evils of kidnapping in our society before the rally strats. Police chiefs, traditional rulers, politicians, clergymen and people from all walks of life are expected at the anti-kidnap rally.Meanwhile, the Ubulu Uku football league is coming to a close with only four team remaining in the tournament. The teams are: Agbonta, Ugbaa, Isho and Ogbego teams. So far, Agbonta team is flying very high with many points. Apart from their points, their team players; from strikers to defender and even the goal keepers are very strong and well cordinated. Some have evenpredicted that this very team may lift the trophy this year.Ugbaa is another team to beat. The ugbaa team which is revenging for her sister quarters-Akwu teamthat chickened away several days back has vowed totake home the cup. One thing is unique about Ugbaa;they play gradually, putting the round leather carefully inside the net. After scoring any goal, they also have a way of celebrating their victory. They do it this way; first they dash into the opponents net, bring the football out by themselves and run round the field dancing in a makosa-like style. Ugbaa is really great.Isho is another hot team but they are fond of missinggoals. Since, the match strated in December 4, isho team has missed over 20 goals. The only advantage they have is that their goal keeper and defence are very tight, if not Isho would have packed their loads two weeks ago.I dont have much to say about Ogbego. The team is only sailing by the special grace of God. Ordinarily, the flamboyant Ogbego team would have gone homesince two weeks ago but, like a cat with nine lives, they kept surviving. Their chances of lifting the trophy are very remote. but who knows? God can continue to favour them till January 1.Escuse me!
