ANTI-KIDNAP RALLY: OGEAH, IKENWE, OKAFOR HONOURED



Barrister Chike Ogeah, a lawyer and Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Joe Ikenwe, an aspirant for Aniocha South LG Chairman and Afam Stanley Okafor, an oil worker were given different categories of awards for their contributions in combating kidnapping in Delta State on Friday.The awards were given by Ubulu Uku Youth Development Council (UYDC)/ Ubulu Uku Youths association (UYA), Asaba branch, organisers of the anti-kidnap rally that took place at Ubulu Uku on the 27th December, 2013.Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Asaba branch, Barrister Chukwuma Oseyenin presented a paper titled: “Ubulu uku Youths: You are Achievers” at the event. First UYDC Vice President, Priest MosesOdiakaose also delivered a welcome address, speaking on the need for the youths to join hands with police to stop kidnapping in Ubulu Uku and its environs. Mr Joe Ikenwe, an astute politician and a property magnate equally narrated the ordeal he passed through when his father was kidnapped few years ago, saying that their efforts at that time gave a facelift of the Ubulu uku Vigilante Group which later got a Hilux Pick-Up after the ugly incident. Ikenwe who condemned kidnapping in any form saidit is a high time the society stamped it out from the system. He equally appealed to all stakeholders to ensure that they keep watch on their environment and also report any suspicious movements by strangers.Other personalities that graced the occasion include: President of UYDC, Comrade Jones Ofunne, NationalVice President of UDC, Peter Okocha, Vice President,Abuja UDU, Williams Okocha, Williams Ashibuogwu, Baron Unini and John Chiejine.The anti-kidnap rally was very successful and saw the youths matching round some of the quarters in Ubulu Uku.
